Home Series

The Humpback whales migrate north every year, leaving the Southern Ocean in Australia and journeying to the warmer, protected waters around Hervey Bay in Queensland to give birth. I'm not sure when the season officially starts but I have seen them as early as May before, in pods cruising past the end of the breakwall, lolling around with their calves and occasionally breaching in massive majesty.

In the fifties we had a whaling industry just up the road from here at Byron Bay, but they shut it down and everyone is very protective of our humpbacks now! Little by little their numbers have increased and they have trusted coming closer to shore. It is truly beautiful.
Love ya gorgeous girl. :iconeufrosis:
